Develop When Fired
The Coatings Gurus at CBS
have developed a bright metallic coating that "crinkles" on
firing. Fired dichroic glass has always had a metallic crystalline
appearance, but the Crinkle process magnifies the effect,
These tiny facets really sparkle!

Uncapped Crinkle after firing |
The Crinkle finish can be used capped
or uncapped. Using it uncapped tends to give a brighter, more
silvery appearance. The Crinkled surface is a bit rougher (feels
like very fine sandpaper).
Used capped with thin clear (as
shown at right) gives a slightly subdued effect, but with a glassy
smooth surface.

SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING
CRINKLIZED FINISH DICHROICS
Unfired, the crinklized finish dichroic coating does not appear very
different from the regular dichroic coating. The unfired surface seems to
have bit more of matte finish than standard dichroic, but it can be hard to
tell two pieces apart. Play it safe and keep your Crinklized finish glass well
separated!
