Pattern Dichroic is made by "tooling" the rare earth metals as they are deposited on the glass surface. This tooling consists of a perforated stencil that causes coatings to be overlapped and shaded as they are deposited. The effects are dramatic and can vary from highly organized geometric shapes to completely amorphous "blobs" of color and intensity.

Dichroic Glass, as it comes from the factory, is a circular sheet of glass 19" in diameter, with an inch or so cut off the top and bottom of the circle.

We cut each factory sheet into quarters. The sheets are shaped like a 1/4 circle, roughly 9½" wide x 8½" tall as shown at left.
