NATURE'S BOUNTY (#29206) by

behind each pattern makes them work! There are over 100 patterns
in this set and right off the top you will find at least a dozen you'll
want to make first.

Florals, animals, landscapes, geometrics and neatly done graphic styles

implies (quite correctly) that the patterns will make decorative
mirrors, many of the patterns will make great windows or panels with no
alteration other than substituting colored glass for the mirror

NOTES ABOUT THIS COLLECTION
So often when you pick up a
pattern book that tells you there are so many patterns inside,
they turn out to have five different THEMES with six or seven
variations of the same rose or poppy. One in a circle, one
in a square, one in a rectangle and so on. In this series,
if it says there are 80+ patterns, you really do get 80+ patterns
... all different. Every CD will have several styles of
panel ... some square, some round, some rectangular. They
might have a few fan lamp designs and most have patterns that will
make great sandblast or acid etch designs. You will also
find patterns specifically created for fireplace screens and
mosaic work. You won't be hurting to find an application for
them.
Now I know that you won't be
making even a quarter of the patterns on any disk in your
lifetime, but you won't tire of the selection. Even if you
don't make more than one pattern from the CD, you will benefit
from the great examples of the use of line and color, shading and
composition from just checking out the patterns on the disk.
Don't be intimidated by some of
the more complicated patterns. Use your drawing program to
edit out lines that add all of the complexity. There are
many patterns that, for instance, have trees in the background.
There's lots of shading and detail in the trees on the pattern,
but there is no reason why you can't simplify and make each tree
just one piece of glass. Maybe one piece of green with
strong horizontal streaks of color, or with a granite texture.
Or add the details by using tinned wire overlays. A favorite
technique is to isolate a point of interest, enlarge and go!
Or skip the background altogether and pick out the focal point and
create a free form window hanging.
The detail in shading shown on
these patterns will also inspire you should you be of of the
many who are trying out fired on paints and enamels. Use
your paints to add highlights to foliage, shade and shadow on
subjects and trace lines that can add so much detail.
Use these patterns as a starting
point for your work and as a stimulation for your imagination.
All I can say now is "where were these patterns when I was
starting out in stained glass?" I might still be making
windows rather than selling you the materials to make YOUR
windows.
COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS:

interpretation for their CD's. By purchasing one of their CD's,
you have their permission to make AND SELL one completed project
