Which Black
To Use:
-
Tracing Black #61 (#RP 1063) – has a small amount of
brown stain in formula. Nice black with a hint of brown (rather than
gray) in background.
-
Universal Black (#RP 1065) – quite a bit of brown
added in a very opaque color.
-
Tracing Black (#RP DE401) – very high stain loading
(matte). Very good for multiple firings.
-
Tracing Black Best (#RP DE458) – true opaque black,
slightly less stain loading than DE401, although still a matte finish.
Has a small amount of Alumina Hydrate added to stabilize color if used
in mixing or firing on other colors.

REUSCHE TRADITIONAL GLASS STAINERS COLORS = LEAD
and CADMIUM FREE
These LEAD FREE colors fire
to 1150-1400°F. Reusche's Lead Free colors are recommended by
most instructors to prevent inhalation of toxic metals when stippling
and shading your matte or highlighting your trace lines. The paint
dust created will not contain lead, lessening any toxic exposure.
In addition, the lead free finish will not be an issue with food
contact.
Sold in 1oz bottles. |

LEAD FREE STAINERS COLORS
will work using the same techniques as the older, traditional colors
shown above |

HELPFUL HINTS:
- Since solutions (especially the metallics) look very
similar before firing, Care should be used to maintain adequate
labeling of solutions.
-
Always work out of a separate container to avoid any
possible contamination of the solution in the original bottle.
-
Your glass must be clean of any residue (including oil
from hands) - use rubbing alcohol or acetone to clean your glass.
-
Multiple thin applications are MUCH better than 1
heavy application, which can flake.
-
Do NOT fire metallics and lusters until they are
adequately dry.
-
Kiln must be vented to allow escape of the vapors from
the luster solvents which can dull your finish.
