DIDYMIUM EYE PROTECTION
FOR TORCH WORK |
|
These Torch Work Glasses
utilize Schott Technology's ACE (Amethyst Contrast Enhancer) rare earth
(didymium)
oxide glass for the lenses. While effectively filtering the harmful
wavelengths produced by the sodium flare, the ACE composition enhances the
red, green and blue wavelengths. This renders a more realistic appearance
of your glass as you work the bead in the flame.
The Phillips 202-ACE lenses
filter out harmful UV to 390nm wavelength.
Well suited for working with System 96, Bullseye or Moretti glass,
NOT for borosilicate, pyrex or fused quartz.
The Phillips 202-ACE Didymium glasses
are quickly becoming the choice of torch workers everywhere. They are
comfortable for viewing for longer periods. Made by Phillips Safety, a
leader in vision protection. |

A Personal Note about Gloves
in a Bottle from the Webmaster
I have been working in glass for over
30 years now and every winter I would dread the chapped hands and
the cuts that would not heal in the dry, cold winter months. Since
Sunshine started carrying Gloves In A Bottle (GIAB), I have
used this lotion several times a day. In past winters there would be
times when there was a Band-Aid on five or six fingers to protect the nasty cracks that
developed. Last winter I was careful to use GIAB three to five times
a day and noted that the tiny nicks that are unavoidable in glass
working healed quickly. Only a couple of the nastier ones required a
Band-Aid for more than a day. The stuff really works |
