LACO ZINC CHLORIDE FREE LIQUID FLUX

Formulated to work with all types of solder, including lead free. The watery consistency (apply sparingly with Q-Tip) allows for easy clean up. Detergent action ingredients clean your metals as you solder, doing a good job on clean or tarnished metals. Non-toxic, non-acid, no zinc chloride fumes!

You can adjust flux strength by diluting this flux by a ratio of 9 parts flux to 1 part water - up to two parts flux and 1 part water.

This is Canfield's oleic acid based flux used primarily for soldering lead came. Not recommended for copper foil work as the organic acid base doesn't have the activity that copper requires. FLUX BRUSHES

Also called acid brushes, are used to apply flux, patina, silver protector etc.  Always use a clean brush for each project.  Never go from your flux container to your patina bottle with the same brush.  Order:

• NEVER use too much flux! Excess flux trapped in your solder seams will corrode your solder from the inside out, leaving a white, powdery residue. It doesn't matter how often you scrape this corrosion, it always returns because the flux is INSIDE the solder bead.
• The answer is to use your flux as sparingly as possible. Apply with a Q-tip, if need be!
• An extra harsh (ie. industrial or sheet metal) flux will give you white powder troubles, no matter how little you use. Be sure your flux is designed to work with stained glass.
• When used properly, the fluxes on this page won't corrode if promptly washed off your work. Use The Solution, CJ's Flux and Patina Remover or Kwik Clean for removing and neutralizing flux residue.
