year. Keeping your foil in a sealed zipper plastic bag in a cool, dry
place will keep the adhesive fresh and the copper free of oxidation |
Venture makes the most widely accepted foil for stained glass. The copper alloy has high tensile strength with a soft temper.
This makes for a superior foil, easy to work with and unmatched
in the art glass market MASTERFOIL
is made in the USA. Do not confuse this superior quality foil with other inferior quality foils made in China. Others try to pass themselves off as American Made
with patriotic sounding names. These
offshore brands lack the thickness, quality adhesive and the conformable
alloy of Venture's foils making for frustration when foiling and reduced
strength of the finished product.
Venture uses an extra thick, heat resistant adhesive providing
"quick stick"
initial tack and greater bonding power. MasterFoil is made in
three thicknesses:

1.5
MIL FOIL is the most popular thickness in the US. If you use a foiling machine or hand foiler, use 1.5 mil foil
for best results. The preferred foil for lampshade work. Comes on a roll with red core.

1.25 and 1.0 MIL
FOILS are thinner and fold over the edge easier. Thinner foil is often easier for beginners.
1.25 mil foil comes on roll with orange core, 1.0 mil foil
rolls have purple cores. These thinner foils are a good choice
for the price conscious crafter.
VENTURE
SPECIALTY FOIL includes colored foils, New Wave foil and
copper foil sheets. Color-backed
foil was developed to overcome the copper edge that shows from the back
side of your work when using clear glass or mirror.

BLACK BACKED FOIL
is used when you use black patina. Not sure what foil to
use? Black Backed is the safest choice.
SILVER BACKED FOIL is used
when you leave the solder silver. -
SILVERED FOIL is silver on BOTH sides.
Use on projects that would require to only tin exposed foil,
such as box lids, suncatchers or kaleidoscope wheels. Saves you the time of tinning.
This foil has a coating of tin (NO LEAD) on both the outside and
inside surfaces.

NEW
WAVE FOIL has a scalloped edge and is used for decorative solder
beads and borders. Available
as copper and in color backed. Approx 5/16" wide at the widest point.

SHEET
FOIL (#0738) comes in 12x12" squares with copper or black
back. Cuts easily with a craft knife to make foil overlays, cut
custom width foil, etc. 1.25
mil thick.

GLASTAR FOILING MACHINE
A remarkable time-saver engineered to speed up and simplify copper foiling.
Faster than hand foiling, you can apply foil to glass edges in half the
time-or less. The Glasfoiler™ accepts 3 sizes of foil: 3/16", 7/32" and
1/4"; and can dispense 2 different sizes at the same time. Made in

The Glastar Foiler is easy to use. Simply thread
the foil through the separator (that automatically pulls the paper backing
from your foil) and over the top of the front wheel. Pass the edge of your
glass through the guide and roll the edge on the wheel. The foil will be
centered on your glass and partially folded over the front and back sides of
the glass. Burnish and you are done.
It takes a bit of practice, but once you get
the hang of it, you will find it faster and easier than hand foiling. |

GLASTAR HAND FOILERS
These Hand Foilers are the perfect tool for automatically and accurately
centering and applying the foil to the edge of a piece of glass. Available
in three sizes: 3/16", 7/32" and 1/4". After applying the foil, use the
Glastar Foil Crimper to quickly and easily fold the copper foil around the
edges of the glass. Designed for 1/8" thick art glass.
NOTE FOR ALL FOILING TOOLS:
Be sure to use the heavier 1.25 or 1.5 mil copper foil when using foiling
machines or hand foilers. The thinner 1.0 mil foil will tend to rip or tear. |

AANRAKU FOIL BURNISHER
This is a handy tool for burnishing the foil to your glass. You can use the
handy roller end to roll over the foiled edge, use the notch at the top of
